Diploma of Educational Studies – Early Literacy & Reading Comprehension

This course builds on the fundamentals learnt in the Phonics module and equips you with knowledge that helps you teach students effective methods, to easily comprehend complex phrases and sentences. It also equips you as a teacher to generate ideas to complement well-designed lessons with an emphasis on reading comprehension; its challenges and ways to overcome these with different types of learners, particularly in the Lower and Upper Primary levels.

Admission Criteria

  • Minimum 3 “O” levels with credit in English or
  • Any other recognised Certification, Diploma or Degree
  • Mature candidates by interview and approval from the School

Assessment

  • Classroom Presentation / Participation
  • Forum Participation
  • Lesson Planning
  • Practicum / Practical Examination
  • Written Theory Examination

Course Duration

  • Part-time study – 8 weeks in total
  • 1 session a week, – 4 hours per session

Graduation

Upon successful completion of all lessons, Practical Examination and Theory Examination, candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Professional Practice – Early Literacy and Reading Comprehension accredited by London Teacher Training College, along with a Transcript.
